日本青年艺术家片山和哉为了追求琉璃艺术，决定不顾疼爱他的母亲片山爱子的苦苦挽留，不愿继承日本最大的温泉旅馆的事业，毅然前往上海，却在一场陶瓷览中，发现日本九谷烧大师神田顺造的作品——龙子，和自己从小戴在身上的龙子项链一模一样，顿时他决心要寻找在他心中埋藏多年的身世之谜的答案。。The TARDIS lands in London on Christmas Eve, 1851 and almost immediately the Doctor hears his name being called. When he meets the woman shouting for him she fails to recognise him and continues calling until another man arrives and claims to be the Doctor and acknowledges the woman, Rosita, as his companion.
