故事讲述了澧州青年蒋翊武在常德求学期间，因参与黄兴领导的华兴会起义，招致学校开除和官府通缉。在逃避官府的通缉中，他不改革命初衷，先后参与了洪江起义、萍浏醴起义等一系列革命活动，得出了革命成功不能依靠江湖会党，需要掌握枪杆子的结论，于是潜入湖北新军秘密组建革命团体“文学社”，创造性地将革命组织建立在连队之上，为武昌起义奠定了牢固的组织基础。蒋翊武被推举为总指挥，成功地指挥了武昌起义，终于推翻了清王朝的封建统治，取得了辛亥革命的伟大胜利。。Somewhere in Myanmar is a forest rich in amber and controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). Most of its inhabitants work in a mine, digging the earth night and days in the hope of finding the precious ore that will get them out of poverty.
