故事发生在清乾隆青少年时期。雍正帝（寇振海 饰）自感时日无多，组织幕僚们考査众皇子，生性坦诚的四阿哥弘历（袁弘 饰）把在上书房所学知识全盘端出，不料，他的直言能谏惹怒了雍正，而善于察言观色的三阿哥（史林 饰）通过走感情路线赢得了父皇的喜欢。本来想立弘历为储的雍正态度上发生了改变，加之弘历犯错，储位岌岌可危。三阿哥和五阿哥（艾东 饰）为谋取储位，明里暗里对弘历使了不少诡计，宫中对储位的争夺日渐白热化，弘历被迫两次离开上书房。 性情正直刚毅的弘历并没有因此改变人性中最基本的道德良知，仍坚持坦诚、仁厚的做人处事理念，最终赢得了父皇和众臣的叹服......。这一杯酒到下一杯酒之间，就是他们人生的全部。虽醒犹醉，男孩老鼠人生裡无所事事，菜市场裡厮混，好不容易遇上阻街的哑巴少女，生活又有了重心。老鼠崇拜表姊的恋人硕哥，硕哥却是万人迷，酒店挂牌牛郎正当红，连老鼠出了柜的哥哥上禾都心动，是酒让人迷，还是人生越喝越清楚，面对上禾诱引，硕哥生命裡以为永恒不变的定律就要鬆动。当家不成家，模糊爱与性别的分隔，一切都还有可能，逼临生命底线，与死亡贴面跳舞竟激出无比生命，随著母亲的身影呼之欲出，他们是在黑暗中逐光，或是梦裡寻梦一场空？生猛淋漓影像，凶猛议题，青春与情欲饱胀竟无处可洩，张作骥电影集大成之作，从城市和生命的双重边缘回望，成一页废墟美学，也是废人美学。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
